Relax and enjoy the scenery, take walks on the many footpaths and pay a visit to the house and grounds whilst camping or caravanning at Castle Howard Lakeside Holiday Park.

We have a dedicated area for tents and hard-standing for caravans and motorhomes. Hard-standing pitches come with electric hook-up, whilst our grass pitches have a choice of electric hook-up or non-electric. Pitches are spacious, level and surrounded by beautiful mature trees with both shaded or sunny areas.

Onsite facilities include an amenities block with toilets, warm showers, sinks, hair dryers and a washing machine and tumble dryer.

As well as its lovely rural location, just a stone's throw from the picturesque estate village of Coneysthorpe, Castle Howard Lakeside Holiday Park is convenient for the Castle Howard courtyard shops and cafes.

Shop - now open!

We are pleased to announce the addition of a new shop at Castle Howard Lakeside Holiday Park from July 2024. Located in the reception of the holiday park, the shop will stock a selection of food from fresh bread, eggs, milk and delicious meat from the Castle Howard Butchery.

A choice of Castle Howard jams and chutneys will be available, alongside cakes, biscuits, and lots of other special treats.

The shop is licensed and will sell a range of wines and beers as well as our very own Castle Howard Gin and a small collection of cocktails.

The shop will be open daily from 9am-5pm throughout the spring, summer and autumn. Opening hours will vary in line with reception opening times during winter.

Product lines are subject to availability and may vary from time to time.

What types of accommodation is available?

We offer hardstanding touring pitches with electric hook up for caravans and motorhomes, and grass camping pitches with a choice of electric or non-electric for tents. We also have a choice of two holiday homes available for short breaks.

When is the park open?

The park is open all year round.

How can I book a pitch or accommodation?

You can book online or call our reservations team on 01653 648316.

Early booking is recommended, especially during peak seasons.

What time is check-in and check-out?

For touring and camping pitches, check-in is from 12 noon and check-out is by 12 noon on your day of departure. Holiday Home guests can check in from 4pm and check out is by 10am to allow us time to clean, prior to the next guests arriving.

Can I choose my pitch?

Specific pitch requests can be made, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them, but they cannot be guaranteed.

Can I bring an awning?

Awnings are permitted at a cost of £3 per day. Please select an awning when you make your booking, or call us on 01653 648316 if you would like to add it after you have made your booking.

Can I bring a pup tent?

Pup tents are not permitted.

How big can my tent be?
Tents can be up to 7 meters.
How big can my tourer be?

We do not restrict the size of tourers. Please contact us if you have a very large motorhome to check requirements.

How many people can I have on my pitch?

The initial price includes up to two people. Additional people are charged at £2 per person per night. You are permitted up to a maximum of 6 people per pitch.

What facilities are available on-site?

The holiday park offers warm showers and toilet blocks, coin operated laundry facilities, dishwashing areas, waste disposal, and drinking water points.

Is there a shop on site?

There is a small shop stocking essential items and some luxuries. You can pick up fresh bread, cakes, fresh meat from the Castle Howard Butchery, and a selection of groceries in addition to wine, beer and even our very own Castle Howard Gin. For a wider range of goods, Castle Howard’s Farm Shop is just a few minutes’ drive.

Are there food and drink options?

A local fish and chip van will visit the holiday park on various weekends during peak times. The Castle Howard Estate also has several cafés and restaurants just a few minutes’ drive away.

Do we have access to Castle Howard from the park?

A pathway along the road will lead you to Castle Howard and takes around 25-30 minutes to walk. It is a country path so may not always be suitable for buggies. Parking is available at Castle Howard if you wish to drive.

Do I have to pay to visit Castle Howard?

Holiday Park guests can enjoy 2 for 1 access to Castle Howard Grounds and Gardens. You will be emailed a code and instructions when you book that you can use for the discount. If you would like to visit the House, normal ticket prices apply.

Are there walking and cycling routes nearby?

Absolutely! The estate and surrounding countryside offer beautiful walking and cycling trails.

Can we fish in the lake?

Fishing is permitted in designated areas of the lakes. You’ll need to bring your own equipment and purchase a fishing permit from reception for £7 per person, per stay. Please be aware, it is not a managed lake and fishing is an ancillary offering.

Can we swim / boat / paddle board / kayak on the lake?

No, it is not permitted to use the lake for any of these activities.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome on touring and camping pitches. Dogs must be kept on a lead and supervised at all times. Owners must clean up any accidents.

Is the site family-friendly?

Yes, Castle Howard Lakeside Holiday Park is perfect for families, with plenty of space to play and explore, and family-friendly facilities. There is an adventure playground called Skelf Island at Castle Howard that is included in the Grounds and Garden admission ticket for Castle Howard. Don’t forget campers can enjoy 2 for 1 entry.

Are campfires and BBQs allowed?

BBQs are allowed as long as they are raised off the ground, care is taken to avoid any damage to the grass, and they are used responsibly. Open campfires are not permitted.

Are there rules regarding noise?

Music, TV’s & electronic games should not be audible outside of your pitch. Barbecues and outdoor meals should be completed and cleared away by 10.30pm and other campers should not be able to hear you after 11.30pm.

Is there Wi-Fi available?

No, we do not have wi-fi in the touring and camping area.

Can we bring our own generator?

Generators are not permitted to ensure the comfort and peace of all guests.

Is the campsite well lit?

We enjoy dark skies which means lighting is limited and it is recommended that you bring a torch for night time.

How do I contact the park?
You can reach us by phone, email, or via the contact form on our website. For emergencies during your stay, an emergency number is displayed on the door of reception.

Important Information

  • Where the majority of the party is under 25 or includes any person(s) who are normally closely supervised, there must be sufficient capable and responsible adults over the age of 25 to provide adequate supervision for the party and each member of it. One such identified person must be present for the duration of the break and accept overall responsibility for the whole party. The name and contact details of this person must be confirmed on arrival.
  • Arrival time is from noon with late arrivals by prior agreement
  • Departure time is 12 noon, with late departure by prior agreement
  • Maximum of one unit per pitch, maximum tent size is 7m x7m
  • We recommend bringing a torch. We keep light pollution to a minimum so guests can enjoy dark skies.
