Where are the cottages and holiday homes located?
Answer: The Holiday Cottages are located in Coneysthorpe and Welburn, two picturesque Estate villages, a short drive from Castle Howard. The Holiday Homes are set within the Castle Howard Lakeside Holiday Park. All offer a peaceful location with easy access to Castle Howard and the surrounding countryside.
What is included in the holiday homes?
Answer: All holiday homes are fully furnished with fully equipped kitchens, dining and lounge areas. All come with modern bathrooms and outdoor seating. Bed linen and towels are provided.
What is the minimum stay?
Answer: Minimum stays vary by season, typically 3 nights on weekends and 4 nights mid-week, but 2-night breaks can sometimes be available.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Answer: Check-in is from 4 pm on the day of arrival. Check-out is by 10 am on your day of departure.
Are the cottages and holiday homes pet-friendly?
Answer: Yes, all Holiday Cottages and selected Holiday Homes welcome dogs. Please check at the time of booking for pet-friendly options and any applicable fees.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Answer: Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi is available in all Holiday Cottages and Holiday Homes.
Are laundry facilities available?
Answer: All Holiday Cottages include a washer / dryer or washer and dryer for guest use. A shared, coin operated laundry room is available for guests of the Holiday Homes for a small cost. It is located in the touring park.
Is parking available?
Answer: Yes, each cottage or holiday home includes a dedicated parking space.
Do guests have access to Castle Howard?
Answer: Guests of our Holiday Cottages receive complimentary tickets to Castle Howard for one day of their stay. Guests of the Holiday Homes, receive a 2 for 1 offer for admission to Castle Howard House and Gardens for one day of their stay (excludes dates of the Christmas event).
What is there to do nearby?
Answer: Enjoy walking, cycling, and exploring the lakeside and countryside. Castle Howard offers beautiful gardens, playgrounds, and seasonal events. Fishing is also available on the lake with a permit.
Are there dining options nearby?
Answer: The Castle Howard Estate has several cafés and restaurants open year-round. A seasonal fish & chip van visits the holiday park on selected dates in summer. Nearby Welburn is home to the popular Crown and Cushion Pub and Dough Bakery, Deli & Cafe.
Is the accommodation suitable for families?
Answer: Absolutely! The Holiday Cottages provide a comfortable base for families, with plenty of space and child-friendly facilities nearby.
Is wood provided for the wood burning stoves?
Answer: Yes, initial wood in supplied in baskets by the wood burning stoves in the Holiday Cottages. Additional logs and kindling is available to purchase from the Castle Howard Garden Centre which is open 7 days a week if you do run out. There are no wood burning stoves in the Holiday Homes.
Can we have a BBQ?
Answer: BBQ’s are provided with all Holiday Cottages so you just need to bring charcoal. BBQ’s are not permitted in the Holiday Homes at Lakeside.
What should we bring?
Answer: You’ll need to bring personal items, food and drinks. Essentials like bed linen, towels, and kitchen utensils are provided. Guests are also provided with tea-towels, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets (Superior Holiday Homes have dishwashers. Classic Holiday Homes do not). Sachets of tea, coffee and sugar are also provided and a pint of fresh milk will be in your fridge on arrival. Additional items can be purchased in the shop at Lakeside if you run out.
Are toiletries provided?
Answer: Complimentary White Company Toiletries are provided in the Holiday Cottages with the exception of our most luxurious Holiday Cottage, Hinds House, where guests can enjoy Penhaligon’s toiletries. Standard toiletries will be provided at The Holiday Homes at Lakeside Holiday Park.
How do I contact the park for questions or emergencies?
Answer: Our friendly staff are available via phone on 01653 213200, or at the Lakeside Holiday Park reception. An emergency contact is included in the welcome folder for each Holiday Cottage and displayed on the door of the Reception at Lakeside Holiday Park.
Where do I pick up my key?
Answer: Full instructions regarding accessing your key will be sent with your booking confirmation email.
